Kagyü lineage. illuminator of the doctrine of {bka' brgyud} Kagyü school (general designation of the chief lamas of this school). n. of a Tantric school founded by Naropa {nA ro pa} and introduced into Tibet by Marpa {mar pa} in the beginning of the 11th century AD Kagyü school.
