Comment: See khrel yod pa.It is an avoidance of faults from the viewpoint of another's disapproval and thus involves a concern for others' opinions, whereas ngo tsha (shame) is an avoidance of faults from the viewpoint of one's own disapproval (i.e., self-image) or of religious prohibition.

Acc. to Namgyal Nyima, this word is different from ngo tsha, which means shame (on account of the perceptions of others), but means something more like English 'conscience,' which doesn't depend on the perceptions of others.
